Product Overview

English name: Red Rili

Scientific Name
Neocaridina Heteropoda var. "Rili"

Origin: Selectively bred color mutation of Yellow and orange neos.

Size male/female: 0.8 inch / .9 in

Water temperature:68-78F

Water Parameters: pH 6.5 - 7.8

Breeding Rate: High

Behaviour: non-agressive

Difficulty: Easy

As with most Neocaridina variants, Rili shrimp are very easy to breed. Since they are virtually the same shrimp as Red Cherry shrimp, Blue Pearl shrimp, or any other Neocaridina strain, they are very similar in breeding requirements and easily bred in the basic shrimp tank. Essentially, given a mix of sexes, clean water, and acceptable temperatures, these shrimp will readily reproduce.

Water Parameters

Being a Neocaridina species, the Rili shrimp requires similar conditions necessary to keep such shrimp as Red Cherry shrimp, Blue Pearl shrimp, Pumpkin shrimp, Chocolate shrimp, and Snowball shrimp. Temperatures are best kept in the range of 68-78 degrees Fahrenheit, although 64-80 degrees Fahrenheit is possible; do not, however, expect any breeding in these extremes. Clean water, of course, is absolutely necessary to keep these shrimp, as will all shrimp in this hobby.

They seem to be pretty tolerant of ph like other neo's and do well from 6.5 to 7.5 parameters.

They start off looking similar to cherry shrimp, but after a few months most will get that great looking red and clear pattern, the clear pattern really make a berried females eggs stand out.

These will be a mix of juveniles to sub adults

These Rilis colored up extremely fast, and are very red even though they are still juveniles! Much nicer than ones I have ordered from other breeders. Great service as always. Will be back for more!

    Very Happy with these guys!

Posted by Emily on 29th Aug 2012

I ordered 20 of these guys. They came in a box that was insulated and well put together. Everyone was pale, but alive and healthy. (I even got quite a few extras) In the box was a note saying to give them a month until they start to look like rilis. And after two weeks, they have nearly doubled in size, and their colors are showing through wonderfully! I am VERY happy with these guys and the quick response of the owner. I look forward to getting more shrimp very soon!

    Blue eyed rilis!

Posted by Unknown on 17th Jun 2012

Ron was very helpful and quick with my order. All my shrimp arrived alive and kickin' (I used 2 day shipping). There were lots of extra babies too which was cool. And I do believe that they have blue eyes! The largest female had blue eyes and a blue saddle, which I didn't even know was possible. There coloring is pretty. I am very happy with my order.

bought these last month and I have several with eggs now. That is the coolest looking I've seen, the transparent middle really shows off those eggs.
