About us

Where to begin...

My name Is Cameron Alexander McGee. I've lived in the beautiful state of Ohio my entire life. I grew up playing sports and competing with my 2 younger siblings. I had an athletic scholarship for baseball, but my dreams fell short when a unfortunate series of events happened with my heart. Long story short. I was too sick to stay in school. So I had to come back home at 18 years old. My condition continued to worsen over the next 2 years after I was told by a "specialist" it would pass. I remember him calling it "a bad pre-disposition". I asked what he meant, and he said, "you were born with it and it's just worsened due to the stress you've been experiencing." So I left thinking "OK, just wait it out."

So I went on. At one point I lost almost 40 lbs in 6 months and was sleeping something like 18 hours a day by 20 years old, and knew I should probably go get a second opinion at this point. So I made an apt with my Physician. This was my real break. The leading cardiac specialist in his field who just so happened to be touring the USA teaching doctors how to detect, prevent and treat cardiac issues just so happened to be at my doctors office the day and time I came in, looked at my ekg, and 10 seconds later looked at me, and gave me two years left to live. I was 20 years old...

Two surgeries later, and I'm here to stay. You learn a lot about yourself and what you can overcome in situations like that. Things I use to view as impossible are no longer impossible. Tell me I can't, and I will. To this day I remember what my father told me when I said I couldn't do something. "Cameron, Perception becomes reality." I say that to myself every morning, and I tell my beautiful girlfriend the same thing when she tells me she can't do something. And she always figures it out.  But Mainly you learn how quickly everything can end, and how little you have done. I knew then I wanted to leave my mark, so here it is.

How it all began...

I Started breeding shrimp with my father when I was 18 years old. I was always the person to have nice big predator tanks with big flashy fish in them. Then one day My father got some CRS shrimp accidentally on one of his import orders. There was no going back after that. What started off as one tank quickly turned into 5, 25, 125, 300...500 TANKS!?!?! How does one person manage 500 tanks? The secret to managing 500 tanks, is loving whats in those 500 tanks. I "work" 100+ hour weeks (trying to make up for all of those 18 hour sleeping days I had). When I should be sleeping I'm making sure a low grade cherry male wasn't hiding in the moss during my last culling expedition. When I should be on vacation, I'm doing everything I can to keep building my websites and bringing you the best articles and information I can. When you love something as much as I love breeding and bringing you the highest quality shrimp possible, it's really not work anymore.

Where to end?....

I'll be 30 this year, and I see no end in site. My father asked me to buy the business so he could retire. I jumped on this opportunity and look forward to seeing how far I can push it! I'm more driven now than I was 10 years ago, and I'm hungry (mainly because I forget to eat during those 18 hr days) I will be expanding my shrimp room to another 3-400 tanks as soon as I finish remolding the basement!

I will strive for the best quality and the healthiest stock. I will give the best customer service I can give, and I will do everything I can to ensure you love your purchase from Planet Inverts! Lets Breed some shrimp together!
