The Golden Bee Shrimp is quite an interesting shrimp. Some may call it a "Golden Crystal Red Shrimp," "Snow White Crystal Red Shrimp" or "All-White Crystal Red Shrimp", but I like to call it a Golden Bee Shrimp. It is a very nice shrimp to keep and very cool in person.

Breeding the Golden Bee Shrimp is just like breeding the Crystal Red Shrimp. The Golden Bee Shrimp can breed just as readily as most other Caridina species. This species will have brown colored eggs when pregnant. It will produce just as many offspring given that the water is clean and the parameters are suited for this species. It is reported that the Golden Bee Shrimp will interbreed with the Crystal Red Shrimp. Some breeders put both species together in the hopes of making the Crystal Red Shrimp breed a higher grade.

Water Parameters

The Golden Bee Shrimp, just like the Crystal Red Shrimp, prefers soft acidic water. Clean water is also a must as with all shrimp in the hobby. Temperature should be lower than 80F and the pH should range from 6.2 to 6.8, gH should be between 4-6 and kH should be between 1-2. It is very important that the Golden Bee Shrimp be housed in specific conditions. Extremes in either water parameters mentioned should be avoided.

Hard to be fair based on my first GB endeavor

Posted by Unknown on 10th Apr 2017

All arrived alive with a little poof of Subwassertang so double bonus. Got a mature and a wee juvenile that both appear to be pretty solid (white) and got a few that I don't know if are Mischlings or what? A few have a reddish plate on the torso. I have been reading a little more than normal and found that it is sometimes the case where they are not just as golden throughout as the name suggests.
All of that being considered fair my only 2 legitimate concerns are I got 6 1" plus shrimps and 2 juveniles so I am guessing that they have one or two more molts and then its curtains so hopefully I can get a clutch out of 1 or 2 of them.
Lastly the water they came in was like 5.8 so I was scrambling trying to lower my tank from 6.8 while dripping hopeing that they would survive. The site says 6.2 to 6.8 I thought so I was not fully prepared but appear to have overcame

    Very active, happy shrimp

Lovely shrimp that were in fantastic shape when I received them. Very active and flew happily all over my tank and grazing right after acclimation. Received a few extra too boot! I would order more rare shrimp here in the future as well due to the care in shipping and health of the animals!

The pictures on the web site do no justice to how great these shrimp look. Alpha Pro came through. For some reason my first order was lost in transit, Ron not only sent me my order again the next day but also included a few freebies. I will not do business with any other supplier. Thanks Ron and all you guys at Alpha!

    Second Order

As stated I placed another order for these guys after some loss on the first one. They looked good when they arrived, and still look good about 6 weeks later. Very happy with them.

These guys look fantastic. In my tank the white looks even more solid than the pictures.

They were very well packaged, but due to a shipping mix up only 4/10 survived. Ron was professional about things and very fair and helpful. I'll be ordering more again soon.
