Product Overview

Dwarf Baby Tears plant drapes your aquarium with elegant leaf clusters. ( These are nice plants!!!)The smallest of known aquarium plants, Hemianthus callitrichoidesis an ideal foreground plant. If regularly pruned, this bright green South American native can also be floated at the water's surface. Either way, it creates the ideal location for spawning fish to hide their eggs and active bottom dwellers to forage for food.

Native to Cuba, Dwarf Baby Tears will eventually form a dense carpet over your aquarium substrate when planted. Some plants take time to establish themselves; however, once ideal conditions are met, this plant fills in well. For optimal health, H. callitrichoidesrequires bright, direct lighting and a rich nutrient base.

Provided lighting and nutrient criteria are met, Dwarf Baby Tears is generally not finicky about care. The plant propagates via runners that branch off of the root area. Cuttings from a mature plant can also be repotted and positioned in other areas of your aquarium.

    Follow Up to Previous Review

Posted by Cross on 12th Oct 2016

There isn't a way to edit my previous review, so I'll follow up with a new review.
The previous order was screwed up by USPS, so I ended up re-ordering. The plants arrived in fantastic shape, and I was easily able to plant and maintain the HC, which is now growing nicely. I just placed another order for more in order to fill out my 29G tank, and feel confident in APB's quality.

Just like the picture. Keep the snails away from this, as they love it also. I keep buying it for shrimp babies.

    Looks Nice

Posted by Cross on 20th Sep 2016

Through no fault of the seller, USPS screwed up the order. I specifically bought from this seller because I had previously ordered from a seller in Arizona, and the plants arrived in poor shape.

So I followed the tracking for this order, and within a day it arrived at USPS less than 30 minutes away. For whatever reason, they then shipped it to Arizona, of all places! I was expecting the package much sooner, and had plans to go away over the weekend. I opened the package on Monday morning, and fortunately the plants were still in good shape.

Again, this is through no fault of the seller, and the fact that the plants still arrived in good shape speaks to their careful packaging, and the quality of the plants before they are shipped. I ordered two plants, and they arrived in an 8x8x8 USPS box, carefully wrapped in insulation. The plants were still very moist, and had condensation on the plastic bag surrounding the plants.

I am using the dry start method of planting my 29 gallon aquarium - I'll update with more feedback as it progresses.

My order was delivered quickly. The plant arrived healthy and since dividing and planting in my aquarium has begun to sprout new leaves. I'm happy with the quality of this product and would order from Alpha Pro Breeders again.

    Great Customer Service

Posted by Celene on 22nd May 2014

I initially ordered the regular baby tears. Right after I had placed my order, I was contacted by Ron, saying he is not happy with the baby tears right now and if I want a refund or a substitute. He recommended I get the dwarf baby tears, and so I agreed.

The plants came in a few days after and were in great condition, with no additional fees - even with the price difference. Two pots were enough for my 20 gallon long, and after a week of planting I already see some spreading.

This is a great place to get your aquatic plants! Thanks, Ron.
